Scotland is ready to receive Gaza civilians affected by the current Israeli military aggression, External Affairs Minister Humza Yousaf said in a press release.

Writing to Britain’s Foreign Secretary William Hague, Mr Yousaf called him to exert pressure on the Israeli occupation government to “end the blockade of Gaza, which the Scottish Government views as collective punishment.”

In the letter Mr Yousaf set out the offer made by Scottish hospitals, and asked Mr Hague to do the same, the press release added.

“The Scottish Government believes that the continuation of the blockade in Gaza is exacerbating the suffering experienced by the people there. For that reason, I have today asked William Hague to exert further pressure on the Israeli Government to bring that blockade to an end.”

Since the start of Israeli-dubbed Operation Protective Edge on early Tuesday, 58 Palestinians have been killed, and over 350 injured in cross-Gaza airstrikes that targeted civilian structures.
