Israel bombing Gaza

War on Gaza: UN, Governments Urge Restraint

Various Gentile governments are urging restraint during Israel’s latest war of revenge on Gaza, with the Orwellian title, “Operation protective edge” considering that Gaza has no military, no advance weapons and certainly no American-supplied F-16s and the population is trapped in the open-air prison of Israel’s making.

Xinhua reported that China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei expressed worry about escalation of the situation after Israeli aircraft bombed the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

“We once again urge the relevant parties to maintain maximum calm and restraint and prevent the situation from further tensions and escalation”

The Foreign Ministry of Egypt urged Israel to “stop its collective punishment policy against Palestinians” and warned from the repercussions of any escalations that could cause all hell to break loose.

The ministry said it made intensive regional and international contacts round the clock to protect Palestinians against Israeli reprisals.

France’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal told a regular briefing,

We reaffirm our rejection of any form of violence and call on all parties to show restraint.

US president, Barack Obama is urging Israelis and Palestinians to “act with reasonableness and restraint” at what he called a dangerous moment between the two sides.

Un Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has called for restraint from all sides after escalating violence in the Gaza Strip and Israel.

“The Secretary-General strongly condemns the multiple rocket attacks today on Israel from Gaza, for which Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility,” Ban’s press office said in a statement.

“While reports of damage and injuries are still being ascertained, (Ban) deplores the severe escalation of violence,” it said.

“He urges all actors to exercise maximum restraint to prevent further incidents that could bring greater escalation and destabilisation in the region.”
